Hazardous substances are common in schools — from cleaning products to science and art materials. If not managed properly, they can cause illness or injury. Understanding how to control these risks is essential for keeping staff and pupils safe.
This COSHH course explains the main legal requirements and practical steps for identifying, assessing, and controlling exposure to hazardous substances. It helps schools meet regulations and ensure staff handle and store materials safely.
Participants learn to recognise hazardous substances, read labels and safety data sheets, and apply suitable control measures. The course also covers the importance of communication and monitoring to maintain good practice.
Course duration: 30–60 minutes
Aimed at: Health and safety leads, site supervisors, and staff responsible for managing hazardous substances, such as science technicians, cleaners, and maintenance staff.
On completion of the course you will receive a SchoolPro TLC certificate of completion.
