Manual handling is one of the most common causes of workplace injury in schools and education settings. From lifting deliveries and moving classroom furniture to setting up equipment and carrying out daily site tasks, poor manual handling practices can lead to strains, sprains, and long-term musculoskeletal injuries. This course provides schools with the knowledge and practical understanding needed to carry out manual handling activities safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
Participants will learn how to identify manual handling risks, assess tasks before starting work, and apply safe lifting and moving techniques to reduce the likelihood of injury. The course also explores more complex manual handling situations, including repetitive tasks, bulky items, and the safe use of mechanical aids.
In addition, it provides guidance on how to share key manual handling messages with colleagues and promote safer working practices across the school environment.
